Stygian Halls

…and thus shone the sun
For one last time, pale and haggard
Till by frothing jaws devoured
A fading light sunk into night
Behold, darkness falls upon lands well-known
Old paths forlorn the night adorns
Hark, shadows call from sombre Stygian halls
...swift the fall
Deep and far beyond all light
To whereabouts unknown
To fog-laden grounds so cold
A gaping chasm gazes
Into my soul, through marrow and bone
A numbing voidness embraces
Yet in my heart's core I know I must carry on
Behold, darkness falls upon lands well-known
Old paths forlorn the night adorns
Hark, shadows call from sombre Stygian halls
The sepulchral stench of buried dreams
Doth fill the heavy air, all sorrows lay bare
Tomorrow's hope is naught but a waning gleam
As hissing voices whisper: Oh, Death won't thou come reap?
Yet in the midst of this ghastly night
I can feel my blood flaming, a fire burning bright
Which I've filled with the remaining light
That I've barely kept deep down inside
And for all the fears I've watered with tears
Remains naught but joy and memories dear
For at the far horizon I can now clearly see
A dawning sun rising upon me

"...And thou, all-shaking thunder,
strike flat the thick roundity of the world!
Crack nature's moulds, all germens spill at once, that make ingrateful man."
A force insurmountable
Embodied in a living god
Doth fiercely ride the heavy skies
Wielding the great fire of the heavens
Come lightning and thunder
Sear the cold hearts of men
Come, Hardhugaðr!
Stir up the violent winds of old
Sweep clean all corners of the earth
As thou roam the outmost frontiers
Never loath nor weary
Again and again the hammer falls
As hard sinews work where foul creatures lurk
Come lightning and thunder
Quake the weary limbs of men
Come, Alda Bergr!
The toiling folk
Thy deeds exalt
To the red-blooded ones
Thy boon bestow
As darkness now gathers all around
And virulent words of fork-tongued kings resound
Caress these lands with heavenly fiery light
Bless these hands with divine violent might
As the yoke of existence now burdens
Let us who ride through this night
Always carry with us
Thine inextinguishable fire
Caress these lands with heavenly fiery light
Bless these hands with divine violent might
Come lightning and thunder
Sear the cold hearts of men
Come, Hardhugaðr!
With resilience and power
Cast back the shadows of the past
With perseverance and prowess
Keep on marching – never turn back!

Rid I Natt!
07:11
|
|

Yet again the weary farmer toils
Under the pale old setting sun
And his hands turn numb
For every grueling deed done
His blood and sweat stains the soil
In yet another furrow ploughed
And upon an ashen crown
A swart raven augurs of war
‘’The chime doth toll
Deep in a man's soul
As the time draws near
To change the plough for the spear
Beware the tyrant's hand
For it reaches far and wide
And every inch of thy fathers' land
It seeks to grasp and to have ye all abide’’
A messenger rides
Through the darkest of nights...
A messenger rides
Through the darkest of nights
And he is carrying with him
Grave words of blood, death and fire
And as the Morning Star beckons
It calls deep down to the hearts of men
From one parish to another
It kindles the fires of defiance
Outlawed and alone
The forests he roams
A wayward son in rebel's robes
Defending his fathers' home
"The struggle shall go on
Till the last drop of blood
And thy wickedness I shall reward
With lead thousandfold
And to those who've spoken
With a traitor's tongue
And awarded friendship with falsehood
No mercy shall be shown
For tell me brother, now when the horns of war resound
Isn't it better to die on your feet, than to live on your knees?"
"So come now my brothers
As the light of day falls
As the Morning Star beckons
Hearken to these my words
That echo down through the ages
Ride tonight, ride tonight!"
Rid I natt, i natt!"

Storm

In the eye of the storm
A lone shore beckons
In a heart careworn
A threnody sounds, dreary and foul
As thou set sail upon the gale
The battle is lost, but the war remains
Praise the fallen, the glorious dead
Sleep eternal, unknown halls await
In the fires of remembrance…
...an ancient sound.
Once and for all, tear down these walls
That holds the seed to eternity
A thousand voices doth call upon thee
To break the chains of mortality
As the spear pierces the flesh
And the hangman's noose wraps thy neck
A radiant eye watches all
In numinous waves of a new dawn
The portal is open
Souls of the dead lead the way
The circle is broken
Into formlessness they ride
And so the last chapter has been written
With a kadmos soaked in blood and burning tears
For the ones who depart from this earthly prison
To the mountains beyond, to the stars above

New Light

Let us wash away all the putrid remains
Of what once was
Let us tear open the sky to set heaven on fire
And conquer the world
Phoibos, bless me with thy silvery bow
To pierce through the weary clouds above
Live through me, O, Lord of the Sun
Proclaim the will of the Ancient Ones
With lucent words and beams of gold
Wash this earthy mind
Scatter thy rays of light
Upon these frozen lands wide
As thou commence the primeval rite
And baptize the world in fiery might
The icy wind did howl
For many a long night
It brought words of malice
Sung songs of madness
And to the wolf's delight
It blew both day and night
Stirred up strife amongst brothers
Forged woe amongst mothers
Yet as the old world did fall
From its womb a new man crawled
And he bore an aegis bright
Sword in hand, his eyes alight
Phoibos, bless me with thy silvery bow
To pierce through the weary clouds above
Proclaim the will of the Ancient Ones
As thy lyre speaks of the unconquered Sun
"I will remember and not be unmindful of Apollo who shoots afar. As he goes through the house of Zeus, the gods tremble before him and all spring up from their seats when he draws near, as he bends his bright bow."

Father, can thou hear heavy hooves pounding?
Three horsemen ride as one with darkness in tow
Draped in black, grave words they speak
"Quod fuimus, estis, quod sumus vos eritis
Counted are the days of all
The time has come when all shall fall"
Lo and behold
The dance of old
Hast thou now come
To claim what's yours?
Thus it unfolds
The dance of old
I know thou've come
To dance with my bones
"As the walls around thee crumble
And thy fortress turns to naught
What art thou now but a king of gravel,
A mere beggar at the doorstep to Helheim,
A simple man who's lost to time?"
Lo and behold
The dance of old
I know thou've come
To finish it once and for all
Yet one thing I know that will never die
The judgement of dead men’s deeds
Brother, do not despair
I’ve emptied the chalice
Had every last drop
My time has come
For all the years I've walked upon this earth
I wouldn't trade one for another
As my sight is slowly fading and my blood is running cold
Hermes, guide my steps to Stygian shores!
Orpheus, bless me with one final song to eclipse them all
Sing me on my way to the realm of the glorious dead
Where my fallen ancestors await!
And Eros, every led-clad arrow I cast back to thee
For with a smile upon my face
I finally descend
I welcome my end
